Congratulations to Beam member Joe who is now a full time slinger signaller.

Joe in training

Joe has just been employed as a crane rigger on the Northern Line extension.

He is the first Beam member to now be in full-time employment as a result of his training.

“I have a completely different outlook on life. Now I am in work everything is falling in place and I really am earning a living and living the dream. This is something I once dreamed of and it’s now a reality”. — Joe

In October, Joe’s Beam campaign raised £1,132 from 19 supporters in just 5 days for a Slinger Signaller course.

Joe’s online campaign included a budget to cover all training costs, from £12 for a hard hat, to £960 for the course, as well as travel expenses to and from the training centre.

He then went on to pass this course with an average of 95%, giving him an industry recognised, professional qualification.

With the continued help of Beam, Joe was able to apply for work, secure a job and continue on his chosen, skilled, career path with a steady income.

Joe has been an inspiration for other Beam members and has used his voice in such a positive way. Soon you’ll be able to read about how Joe is getting on in his new job in the News section of member profiles.
