When we launched Beam 5 years ago, we wanted to create a different kind of business: one that’s focused on solving social problems. Since then, we’ve transformed the lives of more than 1,200 homeless people and refugees all over the UK.

Which is why we’re absolutely thrilled to be certified as a B Corp™.

B Corps are companies that meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

So what does this mean?

We’re joining a movement that completely aligns with our values.

The most challenging problems cannot be solved alone. We believe that when individuals, charities, government and companies work together, millions of people can benefit.

By harnessing the power of business, B Corps commit to positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

Business for good

The B Corp certification addresses five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. After a rigorous certification process, Beam earned an overall score of 119.5 - well above the required benchmark of 80.

Alex Stephany, Founder and CEO of Beam, said:

“For too long, privileged people like me have benefitted in countless ways from innovative businesses and tech companies, while those at society’s margins have been all but ignored. We believe it’s time to change that. We are thrilled to serve the underserved each day for free, now as part of the B Corporation movement.”

We’re now part of a community of 6,279 businesses globally and 1,100 in the UK who have certified as B Corps. Other well-known B Corps include innocent, Patagonia and The Body Shop.

Imagine if businesses didn’t measure success in profit but in the positive impact they have on people and the planet. At Beam, we’re making this a reality as an award-winning social impact business building tech for good.
